7 Months.
Little man turned 7 months old yesterday. Time has seriously flown by. It's hard to believe that in a few short months I will start planning his first birthday party. I included some random pictures of my pumpkins. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Girlfriends
One thing about being a parent- you NEED your time away from the kids. It is very important. Luckily, I have some amazing mommy friends and we try and get together at least once every couple of months.
When I got pregnant with Avery, I was one of the first of my friends to settle down and have kids. Which means, a lot of my friends stopped calling. It was really hard and I think was one of the reasons why I was depressed after she was born. I literally had no girlfriends to talk to and had just gone through a major life change.
Thankfully, I was a member of a website that has message boards divided by your child's age. I have made some great friendships with the women on there. Sometimes, Billy teases me for having "internet friends" but I have truly gotten so much support and entertainment from them. Also, some of the most amazing people I met ended up living here and are now some of my best friends (Laura and Katie, I'm looking at you!). It's funny how much we all have in common, other than the fact our children are around the same age.
Having kids changes your life in ways you won't even understand until it happens to you. I can't stress how important it is to still go out and make time for yourself. When my friends and I go out, I feel like I've been recharged and am able to be a better mom.
Saturday, my friends and I went to Baba Yegas and then to Sherlocks. We had a blast as always! :)

One Year, Divided Into 2 Equal Parts
It's been about 6 months since I became a mother of two. As much as these months have flown by, the weird thing is, I can't really remember life without them both in it. It's a funny thing when you have kids, I always compare it to someone pressing a fast forward button. I kind of feel like every moment before just led up to this, and my life is finally meaningful. I'm not saying my life pre-babies was pointless, I had some amazing times (as well as times I would like to forget!) but nothing compares to the here and now. I also don't waste time being regretful because everything that happened played a part in getting me to where I am now. Billy and I are making a list (and checking it twice, hardy har) about things we would like to change and improve in the upcoming year. We both have things we need to work on, but I feel like we can get through anything as long as we work as a team.
I am excited to lose weight. I need to lose about 25-30 pounds by the summer. A lot of it is baby weight and a lot more of it is not-eating-right weight. It's so easy to drive thru McDonalds after a long day at home with the kids. Or throw some hamburger meat in a pan and make tacos or something else as equally fattening. I have been researching healthy recipes and learning about how much calories I should be eating a day and I feel confident that I am going to start eating better. My plan is to allow myself treats every now and then. My biggest thing is carbs. Give me a nice, hot, homemade piece of bread any day over a brownie. But I do like my sweets too.
Next is exercise. This is the hardest thing. Really, the only free time I have to myself everyday is nap time (which they both hardly ever sleep at the same time) and when Billy gets home from work. I usually spend Ave's naptime eating lunch, catching up on my shows and taking care of Caden. When Billy gets home I usually take a bath (ahhh, the only quiet time I seem to get everyday). We are thinking about joining the YMCA which would be ideal since they have childcare. We will have to see if that's in the budget right now first. Otherwise, I am going to have to fit it in to my schedule somehow.
Caden turned 6 months old on December 30, 2010. He weighs in at 19lbs 11oz and is 27in! He is such a chunk. :) For the most part he is really easy going and happy. He also LOVES to eat which is such a difference from Ave. She pretty much refused all the pureed baby foods, so I am having fun trying all the different flavors with him.

Avery is just talking more and more everyday. Which means, I really need to tone down the cussing, lol. It's amazing to be able to watch her as she grows into something incredible. She discovers something new each and everyday and I am SO lucky that I get to be there for all of it. Billy works hard to be able to provide for us and I am so grateful.

New Direction
Well, hello.
I am such a bad blogger and I got to thinking about why that is. I couldn't sleep last night and that is what I was pondering. I really think it's because the blog is all about the kids. I feel like I am always posting about them on my mommy board and Facebook and when I get time to come over here, not only am I rehashing the same pictures and updates, but it's just tedious at that point.
SO. I have decided to change things a bit. From now on, this blog is going to be about ME. :) Since my world does revolve around my kids, then trust me, you will still see plenty of them. But, now you will also hear about that new recipe I tried the other day or how my weight loss journey is going. Hopefully, this will not only help me be a better blogger but also become a place I look forward to visiting everyday, instead of just another chore.

Avery Turns Two!
Instead of having a birthday party for Avery this year, my friend and I decided to have a joint get together celebration (her son is one day older than Avery) in Kemah! We ate at Cadillac Bar and then rode the rides. The kids had a blast and so did we! Here are some pictures from the fun day.

We couldn't go to Kemah without going over to the seawall to see the ocean. Avery is in LOVE with the beach (she must get that from me!) and kept saying, "Wow". It was so cute. We got there right at sunset and my mom took some nice family photos!

Avery's 2 year birthday celebration was a big success! I am so glad we decided to do this instead of a big party because I know she had a lot more fun this way. I still cannot believe she is TWO. Time sure flies! She had her 2 yr appointment yesterday and it went great. She is way ahead developmentally. The doctor was shocked when I told her Avery already knew some colors- blue, yellow, pink, black and purple. She can also count to 5 and she says new words every day. She is 28lbs and 35 inches! I am so proud of her, she truly is an amazing little girl. <3 I am so lucky she calls me Mommy.

5 Months!
Ok, I know he turned 5 months old about 2 weeks ago, but cut me some slack! We got his adorable onesie from a great friend of mine. Check out her Etsy Store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/littlebirdiebabyshop
She is very talented and also having a sale right now! :)
Caden is such a delightful guy. He weighs about 18lbs already and is happy as can be! We started oatmeal on Thanksgiving and he has been doing really well with it. He also likes carrots and pears so far! I think we are going to try green beans next.

Videos!
Here is the most recent video of Caden laughing. He is such a happy boy!
Here he is rolling over for the second time. He hasn't done it since, haha!
Avery usually goes running in the other direction when I get the video camera out but here is a cute one:
Since then she has also learned to hold up two fingers when asked how old she's going to be!
This is my favorite video. This is pretty much what happens when I try to get something Caden is doing on video, lol.
Disclaimer: At the end she is not calling me a "bitch". At least I don't think she is because she wouldn't know that word. I think she is saying "reach" because she wants me to give her the camera.

Fall!
I think Fall is my favorite season. You have the excitement and anticipation of the holiday season fast approaching. We finally have some nice weather (sometimes, ha!). There's also those yummy pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks!
We took Avery and Caden over to Memorial Arboretum to try and get some nice Fall pictures. Unfortunately, Avery decided not to cooperate. At all. Some of them turned out really cute though. :)
