One Year, Divided Into 2 Equal Parts

It's been about 6 months since I became a mother of two. As much as these months have flown by, the weird thing is, I can't really remember life without them both in it. It's a funny thing when you have kids, I always compare it to someone pressing a fast forward button. I kind of feel like every moment before just led up to this, and my life is finally meaningful. I'm not saying my life pre-babies was pointless, I had some amazing times (as well as times I would like to forget!) but nothing compares to the here and now. I also don't waste time being regretful because everything that happened played a part in getting me to where I am now. Billy and I are making a list (and checking it twice, hardy har) about things we would like to change and improve in the upcoming year. We both have things we need to work on, but I feel like we can get through anything as long as we work as a team.

I am excited to lose weight. I need to lose about 25-30 pounds by the summer. A lot of it is baby weight and a lot more of it is not-eating-right weight. It's so easy to drive thru McDonalds after a long day at home with the kids. Or throw some hamburger meat in a pan and make tacos or something else as equally fattening. I have been researching healthy recipes and learning about how much calories I should be eating a day and I feel confident that I am going to start eating better. My plan is to allow myself treats every now and then. My biggest thing is carbs. Give me a nice, hot, homemade piece of bread any day over a brownie. But I do like my sweets too.

Next is exercise. This is the hardest thing. Really, the only free time I have to myself everyday is nap time (which they both hardly ever sleep at the same time) and when Billy gets home from work. I usually spend Ave's naptime eating lunch, catching up on my shows and taking care of Caden. When Billy gets home I usually take a bath (ahhh, the only quiet time I seem to get everyday). We are thinking about joining the YMCA which would be ideal since they have childcare. We will have to see if that's in the budget right now first. Otherwise, I am going to have to fit it in to my schedule somehow.

Caden turned 6 months old on December 30, 2010. He weighs in at 19lbs 11oz and is 27in! He is such a chunk. :) For the most part he is really easy going and happy. He also LOVES to eat which is such a difference from Ave. She pretty much refused all the pureed baby foods, so I am having fun trying all the different flavors with him.

Avery is just talking more and more everyday. Which means, I really need to tone down the cussing, lol. It's amazing to be able to watch her as she grows into something incredible. She discovers something new each and everyday and I am SO lucky that I get to be there for all of it. Billy works hard to be able to provide for us and I am so grateful.
